Abstract

Social support is important for students, especially for students in Islamic high schools. In addition to studying general knowledge, they also focus on learning Islamic studies. This research aims to determine the correlation between social support and future orientation among XII grade students at MAN X Samarinda. The method used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The research subjects consisted of 184 XII grade students at MAN X Samarinda selected using simple random sampling technique. The measurement tools used in this research are the social support scale and future orientation scale. Both scales use a likert model scale, and the reliability test results using Cronbach's Alpha obtained 0.808 for the future orientation scale and 0.897 for the social support scale. The scales used in this research contain future orientation scale and social support scale which are declared valid and reliable. The finding indicate a significant positive correlation between social support and future orientation among XII grade students at MAN X Samarinda, with a calculated value of r = 0.443 > r table = 0.145. This means that the higher the social support a student receives, the higher their future orientation will be, and vconversely, the lower the social support, the lower the future orientation of XII grade students at MAN X Samarinda. The practical implication of this research is that social support from a student's social network can influence the level of their future orientation. Social support will guide students to motivate, plan, and evaluate their plans for the future.
